Membership Criteria

Consistent with the mission of the Banff Forum, we are seeking a high-calibre debate with a group small enough so that members get to know one another over the course of the Forum.

Typically, new members will have been referred by an existing or previous Banff Forum participant. The Banff Forum seeks participants with a very particular profile. Most Banff Forum participants reflect the following:

  • A proven track record of success in one’s career of choice. Our participants have truly distinguished themselves in a wide range of sectors including business, government, academe and the not-for-profit sector.

  • A demonstrated interest in public policy (most Banff Forum participants have been actively involved in the public policy debate in one way or another through either active participation in the public sector, politics at entry level, writing books or articles and being involved in not for profit, among others). Please note that active involvement in one’s community-while certainly welcome and encouraged-does not equate to an interest or engagement in the public policy process.

  • Prospective members have typically reached a stage in their careers where they can look back on a series of accomplishments, yet are still young enough to approach new topics and new ideas with open mindedness and vigour.

  • The Banff Forum seeks to reflect Canada’s diversity through the geographic, ethnic, linguistic and ideological diversity of its members.
  •

If you believe that you reflect all of these criteria, please send us a brief note indicating why you believe you could make a contribution at the Banff Forum, along with a complete CV to info@banffforum.ca

The Staff and Management Board will review each application individually and will respond within a few weeks.
